The ring is made up of copper. To brighten it, just wash it often with any handwash. Doing so will also prevent your finger from turning green.
I also would like to say few notable things about the ring. The ring symbolizes Lingam. If you view the ring from the top angle it represents Lingam. The lingam is a symbolic representation of the oneness male & female. That is what Lord Shiva is all about ( The Arthanareeswarar ). When view the lingam from an Ariel view, the top portion is the male reproductive organ and the bottom is the female reproductive organ, which is called the Yoni. Tamilians will be knowing what YONI is.
Adding to the importance of Isha Ring - according to my experience, Isha Ring would show our state of mind. That is if we are enthusiastic and happy, the ring will glow, at the same time if our mood is off, the ring would look dull.
