Video: How to Split Paragraph into Individual Sentences in Microsoft Word Document
This tip is not specific to Instructional Design but if you are dealing with Microsoft Word a lot and wondering how to break paragraphs into separate sentences, this is for you.
For instructional Designers, this tip will be useful when you have a large chunk of content and needs to be separated for word/ text-based or PPT storyboards, this will come in handy.
Method 1
- Ctrl + H (Find and Replace)
- Find . period and add space after the period to remove extra spaces when breaking the lines. (assuming all sentences end with a period)
- Replace with .^l (lower case L and not to be confused with Pipe or Vertical Bar key below the Backspace key)
Method 2
- Ctrl + H (Find and Replace)
- Find . period (assuming all sentences end with a period)
- Replace with .
- Click More >> on the left bottom.
- Click Special dropdown.
- Select Manual Line Break
- In the Replace with section you will find .^l added
- Click Replace All
You are done.
