Coronavirus Update: The Earth is still habitable, and this is not an Apocalypse.
We all clearly understand that we are fighting
hard against the global pandemic COVID-19 but failed to comprehend that we are
just in lockdown.
The Earth is still habitable, and this is not
an Apocalypse, nor are we living in a post-apocalyptic period.
Check real-time data from Google.
Check real-time data from Google.
Not all but few celebrities are pretending
this lockdown to be a dystopian era and sharing videos as if this is a
socio-scientific experiment and recording the events: Quarantine Day One,
Quarantine Day Two, Three, Four…
(Analogy to consider: Matt Damon in The Martian & Interstellar, or any other sci-fi movie, where the person is quarantined for years or goes to a cryogenic sleep and wakes up after a few centuries to find out that everybody is gone. More reference - The first episode of The Walking Dead)
We understand social distancing and now utilizing
the lockdown period for opening up our hearts to our beloved ones. But what do
we do instead? We call them, text, video calls, group chats and whatever...
this is okay for people who are far away from their families or beloved ones,
but how is this even okay, when you are not ready to spend valuable time with
what is tangible now?
Also, we should understand that the ones posting
Day One, Day Two, Three…videos are not the only ones in lockdown. The whole
country is in lockdown and there are thousands of people moving back to their
places on foot or finding it hard to survive on minimal food, leftovers from
their daily wages (you think there will be any?), people from humble
backgrounds wanting to find a way to reach their children, families amidst all
those baton charges, filling their guts with whatever is available… So people
like you and me, let's not do this. We are here safe for now with our families.
Let us hope for a fresh start when this is all over.
So what's the point? Point made clear. Let's
reinforce that. This is not the end. So stop acting like it is.
Why now? People sharing activities for
21 days, post-it challenge, picture challenge, work-out challenge, stand naked
before your spouse challenge, clean your shit challenge, vote responsibly next
time challenge, better challenges challenge like read books challenge, spend
time with family challenge, write your mind challenge, clean and declutter your
home challenge, write letters to your loved one's challenge, learn new skills
challenge, cook for your parents' challenge and let's not fuckin brag about it
on social media challenge.

ReplyDeleteNice article during the pandemic
ReplyDeleteAre people doing these many silly challenges now?
ReplyDeleteyes, they are... there is no harm in doing these challenges but quarantine videos creating a mass propaganda creating a clouded vision of apocalypse and dystopia is unacceptable.
DeleteVery nice one! I usually don't read blogs definitely worth my time. Good message at the right time.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your time.
DeleteThe human mind has the tendency to be drawn to negativity and fatalistic claims. I imagine it's also a survival instinct to look out for danger but it's only useful when we capitalize on the information available and act with responsibility. We all know why half-baked "breaking news" on TV sells better than a sensible science-based documentaries on the same topics. Good point, well made Sarge.
ReplyDeleteExactly.
